I have concluded that what we go through or going through only has as much power as we give it.
And Gabrielle Union-Wade makes that sink in deeper.

She has to be one of the strongest women I know.

She recently released her book ‘We’re Going to Need More Wine’ which is basically sharing her story with everyone who wants to read.

The excerpts from the books and interviews and even her post on Instagram has done a lot for me already and I know reading the book might be the best ‘reading’ decision I can make this year.

I already have learnt that living a positive and joyful life is a decision we make regardless of what life has thrown at us..

For a woman who has had several miscarriages and have battled fertility, a woman was raped at gunpoint when she was 19 and has had many more ‘unfortunate’ incidences, Gabrielle Union-Wade is definitely a ‘joyful’ icon to learn from.

The world will throw so many ‘shits’ at us, and what we make of these incidences is what will determine who we will eventually be.

Her book should be a must read if you think life is so sad and nothing can make you joyful.
You should read it not because she has gone through the worst, or because her pain is more than yours, but because it will teach you to still find your ‘joyful’ place even with it all.

Also, we need to also get to be a point that joy isn’t a matter of our happenings. (Which is why I am using the word ‘joy’ not ‘happy’).
We must make a conscious decision to enjoy life and live it like we would want to remember.

Of course, we will be down when we are going through these things, but let us be able to pick ourselves up as fast as we can, hoping for the best to come through.

Let us know that life will always throw challenges our way, however, we cannot afford to remain down and let time pass us by.

What we make out of life are the memories we have of how we lived, even during those painful events.

Looking back, I wished I took life less seriously and got over certain issues fast enough. However, I now know and nothing is ever going to mess with me again.

It might hurt, but not for long.

Hope your week is wrapping up nicely? Don’t forget to be joyful through it all.
