At a recent event, Kaduna State and Unilever launched initiatives targeted at improving the livelihood of the women and teenage girls of the state.
The event held in Kaduna and was attended by top government officials, dignitaries and top management staff of Unilever company.
The initiatives are going to help promote the well being of women and teenage girls in the state, address unemployment and also reduce poverty by supporting women who have entrepreneurial drive.
I was happy when I read this news because, like I mentioned in my article concerning my experience with the Northern women, we need to allow and teach them that they are capable of doing more.
This partnership is also very good because they intend to also tackle the teenage girls, tackle their health challenges and equip their minds with the necessary skills and information needed for their physical and mental growth.
You can read details of the partnership on This Day.
We hope more companies will come up to partner with the government/ authorities to develop and support women and girls.
It is long over-due and we can’t leave it all to the international bodies.
The northern part of Nigeria is definitely a great place to start.
